About Dr. Philbin
Dr. Philbin completed his undergraduate education at Dickinson College in 1981. After graduating with honors from Dickinson, he attended the University of Maryland Dental School of Surgery, where he was selected for membership in several honorary societies and graduated with honors in 1986.
Immediately following dental school, Dr. Philbin was one of almost 300 applicants accepted for one of three positions for the University of Maryland Postgraduate program where he graduated once again with honors. He received the University of Maryland Postgraduate Orthodontic Program’s Award of Excellence, the program’s highest honor. Upon graduation from this program, Dr. Philbin continued his commitment to education and excellence.
In 1998, Dr. Philbin passed the American Board of Orthodontics’ board certification program and became a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics and a member of the American Association College of Diplomates. This certification is optional, and it is a very difficult and very time-consuming accomplishment that takes many years. It is the Association of Orthodontists' highest level of achievement. Only a small percentage of orthodontists ever achieve this certification.
Dr. Philbin believes that education and the pursuit of excellence is a lifelong endeavor. He continues to train internationally under the top professionals in the field of dentistry and orthodontics.
Locally, Dr. Philbin is a member of the Maryland State Association of Orthodontics, Maryland State Dental Society, Anne Arundel Dental Society, Annapolis Dental Study Club, and the Annapolis Master’s Study Club.
On a personal note, Dr. Philbin is married to Dr. Lynn Morgan-Philbin, a practicing dentist in Severna Park. They have three wonderful children – Kyler, Kent, and Kaye. Dr. Philbin enjoys most sports and outside activities.
